Our Commitment

At Shake Shot, we want every customer — including customers with disabilities — to be able to browse, learn about, and buy our products without barriers. We take accessibility seriously and treat it as ongoing work, not a one-time checkbox.

Standard We Target

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, the widely recognized standard for web accessibility. These guidelines focus on making content perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for the widest possible range of users and assistive technologies.

What We Have Done

In August 2026 we completed a detailed accessibility audit of this website and remediated the issues it identified directly in the site’s code. That work included, among other things:

• Restoring visible keyboard focus indicators across the entire site
• Adding accessible names and labels to buttons, links, and form fields, including Add to Cart and search
• Adding a skip-to-content link, proper page landmarks, and a logical heading structure
• Improving text color contrast to meet WCAG AA ratios
• Adding keyboard support for product galleries, menus, and dialogs, including closing with the Escape key
• Giving carousels pause controls and honoring reduced-motion preferences
• Adding descriptive alternative text to images

We verified this work with automated testing (axe-core, against WCAG 2.0/2.1 A and AA rules) across all major page types, along with manual keyboard testing. We retest as the site changes, and accessibility review is part of how we maintain the site going forward.

Known Limitations

Some parts of the experience are provided by third parties whose code we do not fully control, including our product review widget and other embedded apps. Checkout is provided and maintained by Shopify, and we rely on Shopify’s published accessibility conformance for those pages. Where we find issues in third-party components, we patch what we can and raise the rest with the vendor.
